10 Elements You Need for a Kick-Ass Webinar Slide Template - GoToWebinar

A great webinar slide template is a game changer. It keeps your branding consistent, makes you look professional, and engages your audience. But perhaps most importantly, it saves you time. That’s really what we care about, right?

In order for your template to actually save you time, it needs to be good, and come with a variety of slide layouts. Whether you want to compare and contrast ideas, summarize major takeaways, or share key stats, you should have a template that provides a solid starting point so you’re not designing slides from scratch every webinar.

At GoToWebinar, we’ve hosted a lot of webinars and we’ve created even more slides — so many slides. Based on that experience, we have come up with 10 elements every good webinar slide template needs.

1. Great title slide

This is probably the most important element of them all. Your title slide is the first thing attendees see. It may be used for webinar promotions, and it’s usually the splash screen for the on-demand version — you know, the little thumbnail that entices new viewers to hit play? The point is, the title slide better look good.

Here are a few things that every title slide needs:

  • Webinar title: Choose a simple sans serif font in a size. And make sure your title grabs attention and conveys value. If you’re stuck, we’ve put together a list of winning webinar title formulas.
  • Subtitle: Use a bold, sans serif font in a smaller size than your webinar title. Expand on your title so your audience knows exactly why they should register.
  • Your logo and any partner logos: Clearly show who is hosting the webinar. If you’re partnering with a well-known influencer, you’ll want to mention their name on the title slide as well.
  • An eye-catching image: Your image shouldn’t make it hard to read your title, but it should help catch your audience’s attention.

2. Consistent color palette

If you want your webinar slides to look professional you need to choose a color palette and stick with it. Whether you use your brand colors or not, it’s important to choose two or three colors to use throughout your presentation to give your slides a cohesive and polished look.

Use these colors for text boxes, transparent image overlays (this is very important to make your text readable over images), shapes, and backgrounds.

Make sure that you choose colors that make it easy to read your text. No green fonts on dark blue backgrounds, please.

3. Simple presenter slide

Showcase your webinar speakers with a presenter slide. It should include headshots of each of your presenters along with their name, title and their company’s logo. You don’t need to include bios here because they should be part of your webinar script.

4. Compelling agenda slide

Your attendees want to know what to expect from your presentation. Tell them right at the beginning with a simple agenda slide. Use bullet points to keep the slide focused and concise, and use language that teases the great content to come.

5. Screenshot slide

Since we live on our computers and phones you might find yourself needing to display or explain a screenshot during your presentation. (Psst … these slides are very useful in training webinars.) Your webinar template should include slides that feature a laptop/desktop screenshot and mobile screenshot. These slides should also have room for you to explain key features in the screenshot.

6. Icons and visual aids

Clean and simple icons can take your presentation to the next level. They are a great way to explain key points without adding unnecessary words to your slides.

Other visual aid like charts, graphs, or even fun GIFs can not only add life to your presentation but help you get your point across.

7. Informative stats slides

When delivered as part of a strong narrative, stats can be compelling and add credibility to your message. But you can do better than just throwing up some numbers on a slide.

Why not add some mini infographics to your webinar? That’s exactly what you can do with a well-designed stats page. All it takes is a few pieces of data with complementary icons, and you have an infographic-style slide.

8. Engaging photography

Photography is one of the easiest ways to make your presentation stand out and engage your audience. If you don’t already have in-house photography on hand, consider using stock photos, but avoid using generic photos that look overly posed or lifeless.

9. A useful recap slide

People learn through repetition.  Do your attendees the favor of including a slide with key takeaways. I know it can feel awkward repeating yourself and you don’t want to bore listeners, but a recap slide will remind your audience of key points and give them something to think about after the webinar.

10. A bold CTA slide

Whether you want your audience to sign up for another webinar, complete a purchase, try a new product feature, etc., tell them exactly what you want them to do. Create a strong CTA that resonates with your audience, and place it on your last slide so it’s the last thing people see before they log out.
